Belal Muhammad believes he is the worst opponent for Khamzat Chimaev

In the UFC, Belal Muhammad, a welterweight contender, thinks he is the only person in the division who would be a real problem for Khamzat Chimaev if they were to fight.

Muhammad is set to return to the octagon at UFC Vegas 51, where he will face Vicente Luque in a rematch of their first fight at UFC 205. Luque won by first-round knockout, but he and Muhammad are now ranked in the Top 5.

Muhammad is not only one of the UFC’s hottest welterweights right now, but also one of ESPN’s top MMA analysts. Chimaev’s hype train keeps rolling after his victory over Gilbert Burns at UFC 273.

At UFC Vegas 51, Muhammad explained why he wasn’t surprised that Chimaev looked beatable against Burns during his pre-fight press conference.

He was always human to me, and that’s why I wanted to fight him, Muhammad explained. “I believe he is still a great fighter.” He’s unbeaten and still very young. I think people just think of him as this robot, this Marvel character who will just touch you and you’ll fall.

“We all bleed. We’re all human.” They pushed him so far up that now that he hasn’t walked through No. 2 in the world, he stinks. “Bro, he’s still a great challenge and a guy who could beat everyone in the division except me,” I say.

Belal Muhammad is coming off two of his best victories of his career

With a strong performance against Luque, Muhammad hopes to add to the intrigue surrounding the welterweight title fight. He recently defeated Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia, both former title challengers.

Muhammad is unafraid of Chimaev and is willing to fight him soon. If he wants to compete for UFC gold, he may have to go through Chimaev.
