Dwayne Johnson’s wrestling training was intense, as this Young Rock Sneak Peek shows

On Young Rock, Dwayne Johnson is making his way into the ring.

According to an E! News exclusive sneak preview of April 12’s all-new episode, Dewey, a.k.a. Rock (Uli Latukefu), has accepted his NFL fate and is now focused on pursuing a career in wrestling.

Dewey begins a hard training regimen with the support of his father, Rocky Johnson (Joseph Lee Anderson), while attempting to understand the foundations of the sport. Rocky provides his youngster with his first opponent: a piece of string, to aid in the latter.

Rocky instructs him to “punch as close as you can without moving the cord.” You get fired and your ass gets whooped in the rear if you break this string’s nose.”

He starts with Dewey’s mother, Ata Johnson (Stacey Leilua), nervously watching from the sidelines, but it’s not long until Ata tells him to straighten up. “Dewey, you’re squaring up your punches too much!” she screams. Adjust your posture.

In another drill, Dewey continuously falls backward into his father’s arms. “It’s all about trust in wrestling,” Rocky explains. Because you don’t have faith in your opponent, neither of you will put on a decent performance.

Rocky fails to catch Dewey and falls hard in the ring, turning the ostensibly touching scene into a funny one. Rocky tells him, “There’s another lesson for you.” You can’t put your trust in everyone! Get up now. “
