Drake recently startled his audience by releasing a new album full of club music singles, a departure from his typical Grammy-winning hip-hop aesthetic.

Naturally, Honestly, Nevermind, his seventh studio album, continued to be a chart-topper and a major triumph for the Canadian-born artist.

It was just a year later that his previous record, Certified Loverboy, also became a radio hit. In the remarkably brief span of just over a decade, Drake established himself as one of the most well-known rappers in the world. His career, however, got off to a very unusual start because he was originally employed in the acting industry!

In the adolescent drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, Drake was cast as Jimmy Brooks, a high school basketball player who was shot by a classmate and forced to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Drake quickly put out his first mix tapes after appearing on the well-liked Canadian program, and the rest is history in the music industry!

Sandi Graham, who was born on January 28th, 1960, went on to work as a florist and an English teacher. In the 1980s, she saw Drake’s father while attending Club Bluenote.

On October 24, 1986, they gave birth to Drake in Toronto, but they divorced when he was five years old. Sandi struggled financially to raise Drake as a single mother. She also had osteoporosis and joint trouble, which kept her in bed for a large portion of Drake’s early years.

Everyone believes that I attended a private school and that my family was wealthy. It might be my fault. I may not have mentioned it enough, but I didn’t have a happy childhood, Drake told Complex. ” My house wasn’t a joyful place. My mom had a serious illness. We were practically in the red.

Despite their difficulties, Drake has an unwavering affection for Sandi and frequently pays her tribute in his songs and interviews. He gushed to The Hollywood Reporter, “My mum is an amazing woman.” She just said, “I’ll always love you, whatever you want to do, whatever you end up being.” I’ll always be there for you.

Dennis Graham, a Memphis native who formerly played drums for Jerry Lee Lewis, must have given Drake some of his musical abilities.

Drake asserts that Dennis was somewhat of an absentee father after he and Sandi divorced. Drake, however, disagreed, writing on Instagram, “My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him,” in response to Dennis’s prior claim that his son exploits that justification to sell records.

Despite their back and forth and seeming estrangement, the two appear to have patched things up. Drake sings in the song “From Time.”

“I’ve been dealing with my dad, speaking of lack of patience / Just me and my old man coming back to fundamentals / We’ve been talking about the future and time that we wasted,” “I’ve been dealing with my dad, speaking of lack of patience.”

Due to how close they had become recently, Drake teased his father a little about a tattoo Dennis has of his son’s face. In August, Drake joked about the body art image on his Instagram page.

“@TheRealDennisG In the caption of his Instagram photo that featured the tattoo, Drake stated, “I was just sitting here thinking, why do you do me like this?

We are family.” Dennis retaliated by saying he’s had a ton of tattoo artists try to make it look good. He responded, “Hahaha I had 16 people attempt to straighten this out. They’re hurting me. I love you… and miss you,” before jokingly adding, “I miss you.” Read More
