What fashion trends can we anticipate seeing in the spring and summer of 2022?
TS: I’m 42, so the Y2K nostalgic trend with midriff-baring tops, low-rise bottoms, and miniskirts appeals to me. A lot of us in our 40s think that “we’re not ready to tackle the low-slung waist again.” Every “old” fad seems to be making a comeback.
There will be a lot of color, including neons and pastels. On the runway, neon was all the rage. Cobalt blue can be found in abundance.
From sneakers to Mary Janes, platforms have been making a tremendous resurgence, and I love the comfort factor. Loafers are really fashionable right now. Transparency, cut-outs, strappy embellishments, and angular cutting are also prevalent.
As an example,Are there any fashion trends that you’ve had enough of?
TS: For the past two years, I’ve had the impression that we’ve been living in a pandemic bubble. There was a time when I was still planning on wearing athleisure for as long as I could. I’m sure I could.
Now is the time for everyone to get it on and get out there in bright, wonderful colors. It’s finally time to say goodbye to your sweatpants.
