The Mars Volta performed “Graveyard Love”

After a decade of silence, this is the group’s second single.

The Mars Volta released the song “Graveyard Love” and accompanied it with a black and white video. It appears that the band has decided to return after a ten-year hiatus.

The Mars Volta unexpectedly released “Blacklight Shine” on June 21, and now they have presented their second new composition. Cedric Bixler-Zavala of the Mars Volta discussed the lyrics to “Graveyard Love”:

“They intend to destroy you and your lands.” Because if they can’t have you, no one else will. “

There are explanations in the clip “Graveyard Love” and the caption to it—the group supports the state of Puerto Rico, which is still dependent on the United States.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, guitarist for The Mars Volta, was born there. The video depicts the sights of the country as well as the lives of ordinary people, with both beautiful and creepy shots.

In an interview, Rodriguez-Lopez stated that music is literally the center of life in Puerto Rico. People, he claims, can listen to music nonstop and only stop for sleep and meals. It undoubtedly had an impact on him.

Rumor has it that The Mars Volta is working on a new album. According to the Genius portal, the album will be called “The Mars Volta” and will be released in 2022, with the tracks “Graveyard Love” and “Blacklight Shine” included.

Previously, similar information was available on the group’s Wikipedia page. However, the musicians have yet to make an official announcement.

The Mars Volta will embark on a US tour in September, with 18 shows already scheduled. It is unknown whether they will perform in other countries.

Noctourniquet, the Mars Volta’s most recent album, was released in 2012. Bixler-Zavala left the project in January 2013 and announced the band’s return in 2018.

He revealed in 2019 that he was working on new material with Rodriguez-Lopez.
