The Mets have a plan for Jacob deGrom after a promising start to his rehabilitation
Fans of the New York Mets will adore the team’s most recent strategy for ace pitcher Jacob deGrom.
Due to a stress response in his right scapula, Jacob deGrom has missed the first few weeks of the New York Mets’ season. It happened following a season-ending absence due to right elbow discomfort. But deGrom’s return appears to be the final encouraging development.
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets intend for deGrom to take part in a practice game the following week. If everything goes according to plan, deGrom may make his comeback to the team on July 24 or July 26. Puma’s information was validated by Pat Ragazzo of FanNation on SI.com, who also stated that deGrom may make his return at any time between July 24-27 against either the San Diego Padres or New York Yankees.
Late July might see Jacob deGrom return to the Mets
This report comes after deGrom put in yet another strong rehab performance. On July 14, deGrom pitched four innings for Triple-A Syracuse, allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out four batters. His 42 pitches, 29 of which were strikes, were
DeGrom last stood on the mound in July of last year. DeGrom pitched 92.0 innings with a 1.08 ERA, a 0.55 WHIP, 146 strikeouts, and 11 walks (15 starts).
This is good news for the Mets, who only recently got Max Scherzer back from his oblique injury layoff earlier this month. The powerful tandem will soon be at the top of the rotation, giving the Mets and their fan base the chance to witness it. Given that the team’s lead in the NL East is not as vast as it was early in the season, it will be very beneficial.
