Author Liza Mundy and The Science Guy actor Tim Allen tied the knot last month in Washington, D.C.’s Enid A. Haupt Garden, according to People.
The groom wore a black tuxedo along with an orange boutonniere on his lapel, his father’s cufflinks, and, of course, his trademark bowtie. The bride wore a satin, sleeveless dress with a mermaid hemline, train, and glittering belt.
Nye and Mundy celebrated with a reception where they had their first dance to Sam Cooke’s rendition of “Wonderful World” after exchanging vows in front of family, friends, and their officiant, Star Trek alumni Robert Picardo, according to People.
However, we can only hope that at some point during the evening, the Science Guy theme tune was also performed.
So how did the journalist and the scientific educator first meet? In her 2017 book, Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II, Mundy mentioned Nye’s mother, Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye. After that, Nye allegedly sent her an email, and they grew close.
However, Nye and Mundy have largely kept their romance a secret. Their first red carpet appearance was at the Captain Planet Foundation 30th Anniversary Gala in March, and their most recent was at the June premiere of his new Peacock series, The End Is Nye. In reality, they have only shared a few red carpet appearances.
