Wimbledon: Another home victory for Novak Djokovic

On Sunday afternoon, Novak Djokovic won Wimbledon for a record seventh time by defeating Nick Kyrgios in the championship match.

The match was won by Djokovic in four sets, including a thrilling tiebreak in the fourth and final set.

Although Kyrgios pushed him, he wasn’t exactly up against the wall in this tournament.

For the time being, the three of Djokovic, Nadal, and possibly even Federer once he is ready to return from injury, still maintain a stronghold on the sport for the time being, despite the fact that tennis commentators continue to push the youthful guard on fans.

Runner-up prize money at Wimbledon

Kyrgios, who finished second at Wimbledon this year, will receive 1.05 million euros. This reward money has increased, and the winner has as well.

Wimbledon champions receive financial awards

Djokovic will collect 2 million euros for his victory at Wimbledon, an increase from 2021, when the victor took home 1.7 million euros.

Wimbledon’s cash award in US dollars

For any player, especially one of Djokovic’s fame, 2 million euros ($2.5 million) in USD is a sizable sum of money. The top players don’t make most of their money from competitions, though. Instead, they make most of their money from endorsement deals.

The one with the most grand slams?

With 22 grand slam victories, Rafael Nadal holds the record. Djokovic has surpassed Roger Federer for second place on that tally with 21 wins after capturing Wimbledon.

He continues to be one step back of active player Rafael Nadal, who advanced to this tournament’s semifinals before suffering an injury.

Why isn’t Novak Djokovic immunized?

Djokovic refuses to be immunized because it is in his own best interest. As a result, he was denied entry to the Australian Open, but he was allowed to compete at Wimbledon and perhaps the US Open as well.

Djokovic has vowed to maintain his status quo and has no intention of receiving the COVID-19 shot before the US Open.
