Yankees: Three takeaways from Aaron Judge’s walk-off victory over the Astros

Baseball’s best record belongs to the New York Yankees. That is not going to change any time soon. The Bronx Bombers defeated the Astros on Thursday night.

One of the best games of the 2022 MLB season, at least thus far, was played by the Astros and Yankees.

The Yankees came back after falling behind 6-3 on a Yordan Alvarez three-run home run with an Aaron Hicks bomb.

Of all the players, Hicks was the link in this offensive. He nevertheless answered the doorbell since a statement needed to be made at home.

After Kyle Tucker made what some believed to be a game-saving catch for the Astros, Hicks hit a home run.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa then attempted to steal second after reaching base. Sadly, he was called out, but the call was at best questionable.

Takeaways from the Yankees-Astros game: Was Isiah Kiner-Falefa defrauded?

Kiner-Falefa was summoned for a nearly successful base theft attempt.

We think it’s safe, but what do I know? Even after a replay review, the decision was upheld. Nonetheless, the Americans would have the last laugh.

Takeaways from the Yankees-Astros game: Aaron Judge is a hero

Judge’s walk-off single came at an ideal time, as he has done several times this season. There’s a reason he’s the AL MVP so far.

New York is on fire and appears to be unable to stop for more than a day at a time. Winning at their place will necessitate more timely at-bats and, undoubtedly, insurance runs. Houston failed in both categories on Thursday night.

Takeaways from the Yankees-Astros game: Aaron Judge’s arbitration hearing is on time

On Friday, Judge and New York will appear before a judge (ironic, isn’t it?) to determine whether his last two seasons of worth are worth $17 million or $21 million this season.

The judge is likely to rule in favor of the… For long stretches, he has been New York’s best player. Taking him to the court is a risk the Yankees are willing to take, despite the fact that they will face difficult negotiations this offseason with the potential MVP hitting free agency.

Expect Judge to get some good news on the eve of a walk-off single.
