After filing to end her conservatorship, Amanda Bynes receives support from her parents.

Amanda Bynes appears to be ready to go on with her life, and she’s taking the first step by petitioning to remove her conservatorship with the help of her parents.

Amanda filed petitions in Los Angeles on Wednesday to dissolve her 9-year conservatorship, according to TMZ.

She was originally placed under conservatorship in 2013, following a series of events that brought her mental health issues to the surface. She was placed in a psychiatric facility for a short time before being discharged and cared for by her parents.

Amanda’s attorney, David A. Esquibias, stated after Britney Spears was recently released from her conservatorship that Amanda’s choice to remove her conservatorship was made years ago, prior to the #FreeBritney movement.

He spoke with TMZ and stated that Amanda’s parents are behind her. Amanda’s conservatorship was not designed to last the rest of her life; it was supposed to end at some point, and her parents have witnessed substantial progress in the last two years.

She has been clean for several years and is currently enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.

Amanda’s lawyer says she’s been working with her parents to come up with a clear aim for her conservatorship.

Last November, a judge decided to end Britney Spears’ conservatorship after 13 years, as we previously reported. She went to court to defend herself against her own father, recounting her alleged experiences over a 13-year period.
