Giannis is on the verge of winning his first scoring crown

Giannis Is Poised To Win His First Ever Scoring Title

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo might win his first scoring title with six regular-season games remaining.

In the Milwaukee Bucks’ history, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has scored the most points. Giannis Antetokounmpo has now overtaken him.

The reigning NBA champion and two-time MVP is averaging 30.1 points per game. He’s tied for first place with LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and 0.1 points ahead of Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers with that mark.

Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks (28.1), Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks (28.1), and DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls (28.0) all have 28.0 point averages or greater.

With the scoring title down to the wire, might it be the Greek Freak who emerges victorious?

Can Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA scoring title?

Only one of the Bucks’ next six games is against a team that has no chance of making the playoffs: the Central Division foe Detroit Pistons on Friday.

While Milwaukee is practically assured of remaining in the top six, they still have games against high-quality opponents such as the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers on their schedule. In a nutshell, Antetokounmpo will play.

None of the other players in the running for the scoring title are on truly terrible teams racking up empty stats. Even if the Hawks or Lakers exit the play-in tournament early, James’ and Young’s clubs still have a lot to play for. In short, who plays his greatest brand of basketball over the next two weeks will determine who wins the scoring title.

Given that Antetokounmpo just carried the Bucks over the Brooklyn Nets in overtime, he might have one or two more herculean performances left in him before the playoffs.

He may be the Greek Freak, but he’s getting closer to being a Greek deity with each passing season. It would be a huge accomplishment for Antetokounmpo to win the scoring title.

This would make the title all the more relevant for a guy who isn’t a natural jump shot.
