Yara Shahidi, star of Grown-ish, shared a photo of herself in her cap and gown on Instagram on May 26 to commemorate her Harvard graduation, adding, “Yara (noun) is a Harvard alumnus.”
Several celebrities congratulated Yara on her huge achievement in the comments section of her Instagram post, including her Grown-ish co-star Diggy Simmons, who said, “Let’s gooooo!”

Yara, 22, was accepted to Harvard in 2017 but took a gap year before starting her studies in the school’s Social Studies and African American departments, with a focus on “Black political thought in a neocolonial context.” The actress also produced a 136-page thesis dissertation titled “I Am a Man: The Emancipation of Humanity from Western Hegemony Through the Lens of Sylvia Wynter” to complete her graduation requirements.
Yara told Vogue, “It’s weird to have finally reached this significant milestone.” “I’ve wanted to go to college since I was four years old. I knew exactly what I wanted to study by the time I was 17, so seeing it come to fruition was a dream come true. “
So, after graduation, what’s next? The Black-ish star says she wants to keep producing [Grown-ish] and starring in the future and is “very excited.”
