A New Team Just Entered The Tyrann Mathieu Sweepstakes

There is now a lot of competition between the New Orleans Saints and Tyrann Mathieu, a star safety for the Saints who they want to sign.

Tyrann Mathieu, a standout safety, is still looking for a new home. Despite Frank Clark’s best efforts, a return to the Kansas City Chiefs is a long shot, and other teams are attempting to get him to sign.

The New Orleans Saints have emerged as a tantalizing prospect for the defensive back, but they aren’t alone. The Eagles had a virtual visit with Mathieu on Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport. Philadelphians are now hopeful that Howie Roseman can perform his magic.

Tyrann Mathieu joining the Eagles would be a huge coup for the team

Mathieu had hoped to return to Kansas City next season, but the team’s decision to sign Justin Reid to a three-year deal means he’ll have to look for a new team. Mathieu would undoubtedly like to play for his hometown team, so the Saints make sense.

Following his stellar undergraduate days in Baton Rouge for LSU, he’s still a Louisiana icon. The Eagles, on the other hand, aren’t going to allow the three-time All-Pro to move to New Orleans without a fight. More teams may express interest in Mathieu in the future. He had been linked to a possible move to Pittsburgh in the past.

Mathieu was named to the Pro Bowl last season after accumulating 76 total tackles, six pass deflections, and three interceptions. When asked about his future in Kansas City after the loss to the Bengals, he was fighting back tears.

While he may have been sad in the past, a substantial offer from the Eagles may have made him extremely happy. Maybe the Saints will do the same. His free agency will be one to keep an eye on.
