Manuel Margot was carried off the field after colliding with the right-field wall

Manuel Margot of the Tampa Bay Rays got hurt when he tried to make a catch that would have saved the game against the New York Yankees.

On a line drive hit by Aaron Hicks, Margot went for what could have been a game-saving grab. Regrettably for Margot and the Rays, the ball sailed just over his glove.

Margot collided with a wall and was carried from the field. Despite the fact that the incident did not appear to be forceful, Kevin Cash indicated after the game that the injury was serious.

Margot could be out for a while with Tampa Bay. As if catching the Yankees wasn’t difficult enough.

Manuel Margot has sustained a severe injury

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Margot’s injury was an apparent knee sprain. It’s unclear how long he’ll be away, but a trip to Illinois appears to be on the cards.

This season, Margot slashed.303/.367/.427 with an OPS of.794.Margot was on the verge of being an AL All-Star, but it could all be for naught now.

It would be difficult enough for Margot to go down with an injury, but that wasn’t the only awful news the Rays received on Monday night. Kevin Kiermaier is also expected to be placed on the injured list, according to Cash.
