Nick got the 2022 Golden Glove Honoree award from Sugar Ray Leonard for his commitment with the diabetes community during the charity event. The musician wants to tell his story after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13 in the hopes of inspiring others.

Nick told E! News, “My major message from the day I got out of the hospital was just that I’m not going to let this slow me down.” “It hasn’t in all these years, despite the ups and downs and difficult times, and that’s because I have a fantastic support system.”

During his acceptance speech at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, he reaffirmed his optimism. “When I was first diagnosed, I didn’t know anyone who was living with diabetes, and my only hope was and continues to be to try and be a face that people recognize to normalize this condition,” he added. “We’re all here for the same reason and know we’re all in this together.”

After America’s Got Talent, Dancing With Myself starts on NBC on May 31 at 10 p.m.
