The Oscar nominee went platinum blonde for his role as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie film, and the change will have you doing a double take.
On June 15, Warner Bros. released the first shot of Gosling in character, and it’s just stunning. In the photo, Ryan is wearing his character’s distinctive hair and denim clothing, and his sculpted abs are on full display. A pair of “Ken” boxers can also be seen peeping out of his jeans in the photo.
This first look at Ken comes about two months after fans first saw Margot Robbie in the role of Barbie. In the April sneak peek, a happy Robbie was seen standing next to a hot pink convertible.
While fans will have to wait until 2023 to view the full product, Robbie, who also serves as a producer on the picture, has previously provided some details about it.
In a news release from 2019, Robbie noted, “Playing with Barbie encourages confidence, curiosity, and communication throughout a child’s path to self-discovery.”
“Barbie has inspired children to imagine themselves in aspirational roles ranging from princess to president over the course of the brand’s nearly 60-year history.”
