The invasion of Ukraine is affecting the Russian defense industry

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is putting pressure on Moscow’s capacity to export armored military vehicles, which has historically been a lucrative business.

Belarus has made plans for a locally improved T-72B main combat tank (MBT).

According to a Thursday tweet from British military intelligence sources, Belarus likely devised this alternative option in place of an MBT modification program that had previously been contracted to the Russian state-owned business UralVagonZavod.

Despite the fact that Russia has traditionally regarded the defense sector as one of its most major export successes, its military-industrial capabilities are currently “much under strain.”

Because of their connection to Russian forces’ subpar performance in the Ukraine War, several of its weapon systems have lost confidence, according to British military officials.
