How Maya Hawke’s Rapid-Fire Speaking Influenced Her Character in Stranger Things

The final two episodes of Stranger Things season four won’t be revealed by Maya Hawke.

Why? because she is unable to recall what happened.

The Tonight Show segment on June 28 included Maya telling Jimmy Fallon, “I know that I know what happened, but I don’t recall exactly.” “I have not yet seen them.”

She did, however, film season four a while back with the rest of the cast, which also included Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder.

Maya did recall one significant event during the shoot: the Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross, were inspired by her quick-wittedness to write clever lines for her character, Robin. Maya said, “They are really wonderful writers,” admitting that Matt and Ross had noticed her speaking quickly on set owing to nerves.

The writers of Stranger Things made use of Maya’s conversational manner rather than attempting to alter it. She remarked, “They wrote me so much dialogue this season.” They responded, “No, no!” Not to worry. In two minutes, you’ll complete it. You’ll complete it quickly. “

Naturally, this wasn’t the first time Maya had worked with artists to establish Robin’s personality. It was revealed by Maya in an August 2019 interview with Wall Street Journal Magazine that Robin wasn’t always intended to be a queer character.

She said at the time that during filming, “we started to feel that she and [Steve] shouldn’t get together, and that she’s gay.” Even after reviewing previous episodes, it just seems like the most obvious choice ever.

As they say, the rest is history. Read More
