With UFC 275, the UFC returns to Singapore for the first time since October 2019, giving the country its first chance to host a UFC pay-per-view event. Two title fights are on the way, as well as a highly anticipated rematch.
In the main event, Glover Teixeira defends his UFC light heavyweight title for the first time against Jiri Prochazka in the main event.
Teixeira has dominated the Octagon in recent years, winning eight of his previous 10 fights, including six in a row. Teixeira stunned the UFC when he submitted Jan Bachowicz in the main event of UFC 267 in October to win the 205-pound title.
When the event took place just a few days after his 42nd birthday, Teixeira became the oldest first-time UFC champion.
He has also defeated Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith during his current winning streak.
Prochazka, who is 28-3-1 with 12 straight victories, is only in his third UFC fight, but he already has a title opportunity after creating a lot of noise in the division.
Prochazka stunned Volkan Oezdemir with a massive knockout in his UFC debut at UFC 251. Then, ten months later, Prochazka knocked out Dominick Reyes with a spinning back elbow in one of the biggest knockouts of 2021.
Prochazka was a significant character in Rizin before joining the UFC, defeating Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal to win the organization’s first light heavyweight champion and successfully defending that title against UFC veteran C.B. Dollaway.
Valentina Shevchenko fights Talia Santos in the co-main event. She wants to defend her UFC women’s flyweight title for the seventh time in a row.
Shevchenko beat Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 to win the flyweight belt, and she has kept it against Jessica Eye, Liz Carmouche, Katlyn Chookagian, Jennifer Maia, Jessica Andrade, and Lauren Murphy.
Santos earned this championship shot after victories over Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, Roxanne Modafferi, and Joanne Wood on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil 2 and a split decision loss in her UFC debut.
In a rematch of one of the best women’s MMA fights in history, Jedrzejczyk will face Weili Zhang at UFC 275. In the first fight, which took place at UFC 248, Zhang won a split decision to retain the UFC women’s strawweight title.
