Maycee Barber of the UFC flyweight division is only 23 years old, but a win this weekend at UFC Vegas 52 might put her in contention for the title.
At UFC Vegas 52, Barber will face off against fellow prospect Montana De La Rosa. Mirana Maverick and Ariane Lipski are both UFC veterans. Barber beat Maverick, and De La Rosa beat Ariane Lipski.
Barber made his UFC debut in November 2018 against Hannah Cifers after an outstanding finish in Dana White’s Contender Series. She went on to win important matches over JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson before losing to Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi.
She earned a reputation for herself as a 19-year-old sensation in the LFA before signing with the UFC. Before getting the call from UFC president Dana White, she had finishes over Andrey Perkins and Kaila Thompson.
Maycee Barber aspires to be the flyweight division’s dark horse in 2022
Barber is best recognized for her excellent wrestling abilities, which include suffocating opponents on the ground and landing strong ground-and-pound strikes. Her standup has also improved significantly in recent octagon bouts.
A victory over Barber might propel her into the top ten of the UFC flyweight rankings. She’s hoping to prove she can compete with the top contenders at 125 pounds after losses to Grasso and Modafferi.
It’s time for Barber to show her critics that she has a lot of untapped skills in the octagon at UFC 52 in Vegas.
