Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith during the event, prompting her husband Will Smith to approach him on stage and take a punch at him.
The confrontation was breathtaking, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was as surprised as everyone else.
Rock was on stage presenting the Best Documentary award when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness. That’s when Smith, who is up for Best Actor for his portrayal of King Richard, walked onto the stage, approached Rock, and punched him in the face.
Despite the fact that the audio was clipped in the United States, international broadcasts afterwards captured the entire discussion. Smith can be heard screaming “keep my wife’s name out of your f—ing lips” after Rock said “Will Smith smacked the s— out of me.”
