Yordan Alvarez returned to the Astros and began punishing balls right away

On April 18, Yordan Alvarez came back to the Houston Astros. He wanted to hit the pitchers for the Los Angeles Angels.

After a nine-game road trip to begin the season, the Houston Astros debuted Minute Maid Park on April 18. Even though Lance McCullers Jr. was put on the 60-day injured list, the team was able to get designated hitter Yordan Alvarez from the COVID-19 injured list and play him.

Alvarez hit two home runs in his first game back on the Astros’ 40-man roster, leading the team to an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

With Michael Brantley on first base, Alvarez stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the first inning. Houston’s slugger then smacked an 83.6 mph slider from Angels pitcher Michael Lorenzen into the second deck of the right-field stands, putting the Astros up 2-0.

With Houston leading 5-3, Alvarez hit his second home run of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Alex Bregman on base, Archie Bradley’s seventh pitch of the at-bat was hit into the right-center field stands, extending Houston’s lead to 7-3.

Alvarez now has three home runs on the season after this game. On April 7, he hit his first home run of the season against, you guessed it, the Angels.
