Ana de Armas takes on the role of Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s Blonde

The first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming film Blonde, starring the actress as Marilyn Monroe, was unveiled on June 16. Ana is a natural brunette who wears her hair in the late Hollywood icon’s signature platinum blond style.

In the teaser, Ana also acts out some of Marilyn’s most famous movie scenes, like when she wears a white halter dress and lets air from a subway vent blow her skirt past her knees.

Another shows Ana as the late star in a strapless pink gown onstage in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.”

Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, and Julianne Nicholson star in the new picture, which is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ historical fiction novel.

According to Netflix’s blurb, “Blonde boldly reimagines the tumultuous life of icon Marilyn Monroe.” “The film explores the tension between her public and private lives by blurring the lines between fact and fiction in a clever way.”

While some people enjoy the heat, Ana enjoys the challenge, describing the job as “the most grueling work” she’s ever done.

In April, she told Entertainment Weekly, “It took me a year to prepare for it.” “Research, accent, and everything else you can think of.”

But it was all worth it. “It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever done,” the 34-year-old raved. “Can’t wait for it to come out.”

After all, it will be like nothing fans have seen before, according to director Andrew Dominik.

“The whole idea of Blonde was to detail a childhood drama and then show the way in which that drama splits the adults into a public and private self,” he told Collider.

“And how the adult sees the world through the lens of that childhood drama, and it’s sort of a story of a person whose rational picture of the world as being overwhelmed by her unconscious, and it uses the iconography of Marilyn Monroe.”
