LIV Golf Rumors: The next major champion to join the break-off circuit

Bubba Watson, a two-time major champion, is supposedly the next marquee signing for LIV Golf, who is expected to make the announcement this week at Bedminster.

This week, Trump Bedminster in New Jersey will play host to the third tournament of the LIV Golf series, including three brand-new members of the breakaway tour. Henrik Stenson, Jason Kokrak, and Charles Howell III all left the PGA Tour to play in the golf league financed by Saudi Arabia.

Greg Norman and the rest of the league, it seems, have another significant announcement and newcomer planned for this week’s Bedminster tournament.

Bubba Watson, a two-time winner of the Masters, will be revealed as the newest member of LIV Golf, according to Handicap 54 on Twitter (a source that has been all over and remarkably accurate with LIV Golf rumors throughout all of the players jumping to the new tour).

Rumors of Bubba Watson joining the Saudi-sponsored LIV Golf league

He continued that Watson won’t play for LIV in 2022, but will join in 2023 and serve as a team captain for the breakaway league.

As the weeks passed, there were doubts regarding whether or not Watson would truly leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, despite the fact that he had long been believed to be one of the players who would do so. But based on these stories, it appears that it will.

Watson, who will turn 44 in November, is basically past his prime but still attracts interest as a well-known figure in the golfing world. He fits the profile of many other PGA Tour veterans who have joined this new league.

Overall, though, Norman and the LIV crew must be thrilled about the newest member. As the league advances in its quest for OWGR points and looks to gain more stability in the golfing world, adding a player with Watson’s major-winning record gives it more credibility.
