Raymundo Garduo Cruz and Paco Mufote, who played Juan Francisco González Aguilar on the Netflix show The Chosen One, both died in a car accident in Mexico.
On June 16, the two were murdered when their van crashed and overturned on a route in Baja California Sur. E! News has revealed that two more cast members and four crew members were hurt and sent to a nearby hospital.
The crew was in Mexico filming The Chosen One and was on their way to the local airport when the plane crashed, according to E! News.
On June 17, the State Government of Baja California issued a statement on Facebook: “The deaths of Raymundo Garduo Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar ‘Paco Mufote’ are greatly regretted by the state government.” Our heartfelt sympathies go out to their family, friends, and the Baja California arts community. May they be at ease. “
Netflix has been contacted for comment by E! News, but has yet to respond.
A new series called The Chosen One is based on Mark Millar and Peter Gross’ American Jesus comic book series, which was previously titled Chosen.
In the story, a 12-year-old boy finds out that he is the second coming of Jesus Christ and is meant to save the world.
Following the mishap, the series’ production was temporarily halted by Redrum, the show’s independent production company, according to E! News. Authorities are looking into what caused the disaster.
