In 2022, the Atlanta Falcons will bring back a beloved old look with a red helmet that highlights their throwback uniforms from 1966.
In Week 6, the Falcons have something unique for fans thanks to a throwback style that pays homage to their 1966 team.

A retro logo, a white and black stripe, and gold trim adorn the helmet. It has a grayish mask on its face. It’s a nod to the team’s helmets from 1966 to 1969, which were really built with Georgia and Georgia Tech’s color schemes in mind.
Black jerseys with white numbers and red and white trim will be used. The white pants have red and black stripes.
Here’s how fans reacted:
From 2009 through 2013, Atlanta used the same jerseys twice a year, but the NFL revised the rules to prevent teams from altering their helmets. When the throwbacks were reintroduced, they were replaced with a black helmet.
The NFL has changed its rules so that teams can get creative with their helmets again. This means that there are now throwback looks, color rush looks, and other options.
Kyle Pitts and the rest of the team will look great in those outfits come fall. The only gripe is that it will only be available for one game.
Now that the red helmet has returned, fans can demand a red-on-red look in the future.
