At the Emmys, B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling parody their relationship history by getting cadid

The Emmys are a time for TV stars to unwind, have fun, and forget about all the hassles of daily life, but B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling weren’t there to do that.

As they proceeded to give the prize for outstanding writing for a limited series, they decided to make jokes on stage about their complex past interactions.

As Mindy introduced them, she said: “We just want to say congrats to all the candidates, you lazy sons of b*tches. What gives that you’re getting away with? We started off making 22 episodes a year of network sitcoms.”

As he continued, Novak said: “Your entire life would be consumed by that show. No time for more projects.”

Mindy emphasized her argument by remarking, “Not enough time for socializing. You were forced to develop crazily complex relationships with your co-stars.”

Since everyone in the audience was aware of the reference, they immediately burst out laughing. While they were both co-starring in The Office in 2005, Novak and Kaling got to know one another.

While they were on the show, they had an on-again, off-again relationship, but now they are just really good friends who go to red carpet events together while insisting they are not dating.

According to Kaling, their union is best described as:

“A romantically heated friendship marked by raucous debates.”

The media allegations that Novak is the father of Kaling’s two children have further hampered their relationship. Although Kaling hasn’t identified the father of her children and has no plans to, she and the kids are frequently pictured spending time with Novak.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Kaling addressed the issue and provided the following description:

“He’s the godparent to both my kids — and they have such a great relationship — and so far [the rumors haven’t] affected my happiness at all, it hasn’t affected my kids or B.J. If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it.”
