Is Tom Brady considering a one-and-done comeback after his retirement? His plans are hinted at by what he stated during The Match 2022.
Tom Brady has already announced his retirement. The football world may now look forward to “Tom Brady Retirement Watch 2: Electric Boogaloo,” since he unretired.
Or maybe not.
Brady could already be hinting at his 2023 intentions, which may or may not include football.
The Buccaneers’ quarterback reportedly told Patrick Mahomes at The Match 2022 that he would have more time on his hands next year.
Tom Brady has hinted that he would retire after this season
Brady was telling Mahomes about an upcoming event in Hawaii that he wouldn’t be able to attend.
Mahomes assured him, “I’ll let you know ahead of time next year.”
According to Golf Digest’s Christopher Powers, Brady said, “Way in advance, though I should have a lot more free time next year.”
For a variety of reasons, Brady could have more free time next year. One major reason could be that he does not intend to go through the NFL offseason with all of its challenges.
Obviously, this does not imply that he will retire at the end of the 2022 season. Even if he did, we’ve previously seen him retire and re-retire in the past. This could easily devolve into a Brett Favre situation.
For the time being, all we can do is conjecture. He will turn 45 years old in August, making him eligible to play in the 2023 season at the age of 46. Who knows what he’ll do in the end, or if he really knows what his future holds at this time?
