At the 2022 Academy Awards, Beyoncé takes the stage, Megan Thee Stallion performs, and Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes provide the laughs!
The 2022 Academy Awards were intended to include greater diversity and appeal to a younger market, and they did it by featuring some of our favorite black ladies.
Beyoncé opened the program with a song called “Be Alive,” while Megan Thee Stallion made the most of her first Academy Awards appearance by taking the stage—but it was funny ladies Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes who had the audience laughing throughout the night!
Beyoncé kicked off the Academy Awards with a live pre-recorded performance in Compton, the hometown of Venus and Serena Williams, with her Oscar-nominated song “Be Alive” from the film “King Richard.”
Megan Thee Stallion changed clothes and went to the stage after strolling the red carpet to deliver a stanza from the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the animated film “Encanto,” symbolizing all the hotties.
The Academy Awards chose Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer to host the ceremony this year, emphasizing the importance of female empowerment. The ladies did double duty throughout the night, never skipping a beat in keeping the laughter flowing.
Their hosting abilities for the Academy Awards kept things light and enjoyable by poking fun at the nominees and all the other actors in attendance, which is a significant shift from how the awards usually proceed.
